Equity Housing scores with Glossop North End

As part of its ongoing commitment to creating communities around its developments, Equity Housing Group, a social housing provider based in Stockport, has donated £8,000 to Glossop North End AFC to help improve its facilities.

The cheque was presented to the Director of the football club this week and will go towards buying new netting for the football pitches, ensuring local residents are not disturbed by rogue footballs. A team of volunteers from Equity Housing Group also dedicated time to painting the outer wall of the football ground as part of its ‘volunteer day’ scheme.

When building new developments, Equity Housing Group focuses on creating communities and not just houses. To support this, it will be working with Stockport County FC and Glossop North End AFC to provide soccer schools for its residents and other children in the surrounding area of Glossop.

Equity Housing Group is invested in the Glossop area having recently opened its latest 51 property development on Surrey Street, providing affordable housing to people of High Peak. Glossop North End AFC has thanked Equity Housing Group’s support by donating two family season tickets to be offered to Equity’s Surrey Street residents on a rota basis.

Collette King, Chief Executive of Equity Housing Group, said: “At Equity, we don’t want to just build houses – we want to create communities that people want to be a part of. By working with local businesses, sports clubs and social enterprises, we can build neighbourhoods that residents become invested in. We are proud to support Glossop North End AFC and hope this financial donation will help the club grow and develop.”

Jim Joyce, Director at Glossop North End AFC, added “Our ground is situated in a residential area, which is great for encouraging supporters from the local area but inevitably, sometimes balls can end up in the surrounding gardens. The money donated by Equity Housing Group will go towards netting to surround our pitches, keeping our players, and our neighbours, happy.

“We were very grateful to Equity for the financial and resource donation and look forward to welcoming its Surrey Street residents to our games.”
